Dear Polly,

I'm writing because I'm wondering why you've missed the last two days of school. You're never absent, so it was very surprising to me when you weren't in class. I called your house, but no one answered. I wanted to write you to check in to make sure everything is okay. Are you sick? Did your family go on vavation? If they did, that would explain why no one answered the phone.

Mrs. Egan assigned us a new project. It's a project on animals. Everyone has a partner and we have to choose a unique animal and do a presentation on it for the class. I told Mrs. Egan I'd work with you even though you weren't there. I hope that's okay with you. You should start thinking about what animal you want to study.

I really hope everything is okay with you. E-mail me or call me when you get this. I hope I see you tomorrow.

Gloria

Tôi đang nghĩ to, tôi ghét bạn.

Food Cravings: They're All in Your Brain

We have all been there. It's 3 o'clock and you've been hard at work. As you sit at your desk, a strong desire for chocolate overcomes you. You try to busy yourself to make it go away. But it doesn't. In fact, the more you try to NOT think about a square of deep, dark chocolate melting in your mouth, the more you want it. You can even smell it!

Here is another scenario. Perhaps you are not feeling well. You’re coming down with a cold and feel rundown. The only thing you want to eat is a big, bowl of chicken soup, like your mom used to make when you were sick as a child.

A food craving is a strong desire for a specific type of food. And they are normal. Most people have them even though what we crave might be different. One person might crave sweet chocolate, while another might crave salty potato chips.
