Tính từ ngắn
- Tính từ có 1 âm tiết, hoặc 2 âm tiết nhưng chữ cái cuối cùng của âm tiết thứ hai có kết thúc là –y, –le,–ow, –er, và –et được cho là tính từ ngắn.
Ví dụ:
Short – /ʃɔːrt/: ngắn
Sweet – /swiːt/: ngọt
Clever – /ˈklev.ɚ/: khéo léo, khôn khéo
- Trong câu so sánh hơn kém, đối với tính từ ngắn ta chỉ cần thêm – er vào sau. Trong câu so sánh hơn nhất thêm – est.
Ví dụ:
Sharp – sharper – the sharpest: sắc – sắc hơn – sắc nhất
Light – lighter – the lightest: nhẹ – nhẹ hơn – nhẹ nhất
- Thêm –r nếu tính từ kết thúc tận cùng bằng nguyên âm – e trong câu so sánh hơn kém, hoặc thêm –st nếu trong câu so sánh cao nhất.
Ví dụ:
Nice – nicer – the nicest: đẹp – đẹp hơn – đẹp nhất
Close – closer – the closest: gần – gần hơn – gần nhất
- Nếu tính từ kết thúc bằng “y” thì trong câu so sánh ta bỏ “y” để thêm -ier trong câu so sánh hơn kém, và thêm -iest trong câu so sánh cao nhất.
Ví dụ:
Happy – happier – the happiest: hạnh phúc – hạnh phúc hơn – hạnh phúc nhất
Easy – easier – the easiest: dễ dàng – dễ dàng hơn – dễ dàng nhất
- Nếu trước phụ âm sau cùng là một nguyên âm thì cần gấp đôi phụ âm đó rồi mới thêm – er hoặc – iest.
Ví dụ:
Hot – hotter – the hottest: nóng – nóng hơn – nóng nhất
Big – bigger – the biggest: to lớn – to hơn – to nhất
2. Những tính từ có từ ba âm tiết trở lên được gọi là tính từ dài.
Ví dụ:
Beautiful – /ˈbjuː.t̬ə.fəl/: đẹp
Intelligent – /ɪnˈtel.ə.dʒənt/: thông minh
Expensive – /ɪkˈspen.sɪv/: đắt đỏ
- Trong câu so sánh hơn kém chỉ cần thêm more vào trước tính từ, trong câu so sánh hơn nhất thì thêm the most vào trước tính từ.
Ví dụ :
More beautiful – the most beautiful: đẹp hơn – đẹp nhất
3. Một số trường hợp đặc biệt
- Những tính từ ngắn kết thúc bằng –ed vẫn dùng more hoặc most trước tính từ trong câu so sánh.
Ví dụ:
Pleased – more pleased – the most pleased: hài lòng – hài lòng hơn – hài lòng nhất
Tired – more tired – the most tired: mệt mỏi
- Những tính từ kết thúc bằng –le,–ow, –er, và –et thì có thể vừa thêm -er, -iest vào sau hoặc thêm more, the most vào trước tính từ.
Ví dụ:
Quiet – quieter – quietest /more quiet – the most quiet: yên lặng – yên lặng hơn – yên lặng nhất
Clever – cleverer/ – cleverest/ more clever – the most cleaver: khéo léo – khéo léo hơn – khéo léo nhất
Narrow – narrower – narrowest /more narrow – the most narrow: hẹp – hẹp hơn – hẹp nhất
Simple – simpler – simplest /more simple – the most simple: đơn giản – đơn giản hơn – đơn giản nhất
- Một số tính từ bất quy tắc khi so sánh hơn kém và cao nhất, phải học thuộc chúng.
Ví dụ:
Good – better – best: tốt – tốt hơn – tốt nhất
Well (healthy) – better: khỏe – khỏe hơn
Bad – worse – worst: tệ – tệ hơn – tệ nhất
Far – farther/further – the farthest/furthest: xa – xa hơn – xa nhất

My Favourite Sport is Swimming
Swimming has been my favourite sport since I was very small. I learnt to swim when I was just 5 years old. Swimming is a very popular sport; furthermore, it provides individuals with several physical and mental benefits.
There are some reasons why swimming is popular. Firstly, swimming is a sport for all age groups; besides, it is a lifetime activity. People can learn to swim as young as 4 or 5 years old or as old as 60 or 70. All it takes is the right instruction and desire to get in the pool. Secondly, swimming is cheap. You don't have to spend much money on it. All you need is just a swimsuit that makes you feel comfortable and a goggle that keeps water from your eyes. Even though you have to buy an admission ticket, it is not so expensive. Anyone can afford to go to swim. Finally, swimming is one of the most popular sports in the world.
Besides its popularity, swimming is a good activity that provides individuals with several physical benefits. First of all, swimming is a movement through water using one's legs and arms that provides an all body workout. As all of your muscles are used during swimming, it is an excellent form of exercise. Moreover, swimming can also be very beneficial to your heart and lungs. After a few laps, swimming can Giúp you cool-down, move blood through your muscles to Giúp them recover. Swimming builds up muscle strength , so your body is kept in perfect shape.
In addition to its physical benefits, swimming is also an effective way to relax. Swim with a very low effort, let your mind wander, focus on nothing but the rhythm of your stroke. This form of meditation can Giúp you gain a feeling of well-being. Furthermore, swimming is a wonderful recreational activity for you and your family. Swimming gives you a chance to be with your family or with some friends at the pool, or just to dip yourself in cool water. Spending hours at the pool on hot summer days is always my favourite pastime.
In conclusion, swimming is not only popular, but it is also one of the best all body workout a person can do. Besides its physical benefits, swimming is also a great recreational sport giving you peace of mind to continue with your day. Swimming has numerous advantages over other exercises and if done consistently will keep you in shape for the long period of time.

My most favorite game is Football. It is a world famous game.
Football is such a popular game that it is played even in the most remote corner of my country. People walk long distances to watch a football match. Even old people enjoy watching this game.
To play this most interesting, I go to the field near my house where my friends wait for me every late afternoon. My friends also love this game very much. We play until dark.
But it is a very hard game. It requires a lot of strength to kick the ball. They must also be skillful in controlling the ball. All this makes the game a difficult game indeed. Playing football however Giúp us healthy and active.
I shall always love this game.

I like swimming. It is my favorite sport, for I know that it is healthy as well as a good chance for a person to exercise his or her body.
Last Sunday morning, as the weather was fine, I went to Vung Tau with my family. It took us about two hours by car to arrive at our destination, and I felt very excited about it.
When our car reached the top of the cliff overlooking the Bay, I admired the golden sand of the long beach, the blue sky and water, and the splendid country surroundings which looked like an artist’s painting.
We put on our bathing-suits and ran into the water. It was a very happy swim for me. We played ball, challenged each other in swimming a certain distance. Of course, I was always beaten by my bigger brothers but I was satisfied with my good effort. When we felt tired, we lay down on the beach to rest and to have some sunbath. At about noon, we returned to our tent and had lunch.
About 3 p.m. we went once more into the water and swam till 5 p.m. Finally, we got ready to start for home. Everyone was delighted to have spent such a wonderful swim. I really enjoyed swimming very much that day.

My family have 4 people. There are my mother,my father,my elder sister and me.My parents are both the same age, 50 years old.My father is a teacher ,he is very kind and hard-working. My morther is a nurse, she is interesting, I think she is the most funny person in my family. My elder sister is 18 years old, she is a student and she is very pretty,she not only learns well but also plays the piano very well, I think she will become a pianist in the future. And me, I’m 16 years old and I’m a pupil, in the future i'll be a marketing staff. I love my familly very much.For me, family always is the assured a reliable support.

Hello everyone! Today I'll tell you about my house. I live in a big house in the countryside and it is very beautiful. It has a living room, a kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the living room, there is a table, four chairs, a television and an air conditioner. My bedroom is very nice. There is a computer, a bed, a lamp and two pictures on the wall. And a bookshelf above the table, some teddy bears on the bed and a wardrobe. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a stove and a sink. Next to the kitchen is the bathroom. It has a shower, a washing machine and a tub. I love my house very much.
