People have always valued elephant because their size and strength. Asian elephants has been captured and trained to work human being for two thousand years. We have been used in battles from the 3rd century up when World War II. Because they are easily trained, they have been used to transport goods and carry huge logs from Forest which was once their home. Approximately twenty-five percents of the world's population of Asian elephants have been caught and trained to do variety jobs, including carrying passengers and help to capture more wild elephants. Elephants are considered to be more intelligent then most animals, including domestics dogs and cats. This shows by the way they can easily learn to do tricks and perform tasks, as soon as by the playful behavior of young elephants, who energetically play games if hide and seek, tug of war and tag.

The elephant is the largest animal to walk on Earth. An elephant can carry a load of 1,200 pounds. They eat 300 pounds of food a day. An elephant baby can weigh 200 pounds at birth. Elephants can live up to 70 years. Elephants can be trained to carry logs with their trunks. They also use their trunks for drinking water, bathing, eating and communicating. There are two kinds of elephants: the African elephant and the Indian elephant. African elephant can be characterized as larger ears. The African elephant grows up to 10 feet and weighs as much as 12,000 pounds. The Indian elephant grows up to 9 feet tall, and weighs up to 800 pounds. This elephant is characterized as smaller ears. Another name for the Indian elephant is the Asian elephant.

Elephant racing festival,one of the biggest festivals in Tay Nguyen, is held(1).......in the third lunar month
As praparation for the festival, villagers(2).......their elephants with a wide range of food apart from grass, including corns, sugar cances, sweet potatoes papayas, and bananas.Also,in order to preserve their strength, the elephants take a rest(3)......hard work
One the day of the event, elephants from serveral villages(4).......at Don village.Each time, ten elephants will run at the same time for about one or two kilometers.The competition is gluided by th sound of tu va, a kind of horn.The first elephant(5)........reaches the appointed destinatin will receive a laured wreath as a sing of victory, and it willl enjoy the achivement excitedly with sugar canes and bananas from surrounding people.(6)........finishing the race at Don village, the elephants move to Serepok River for another competition-swimming.They also practicipate in games(7).......football nd tug of war
