The British ship H.M.S Breadalbane sank in the Canadian Arctic on August 21 1853, after being crushed by encroaching ice while on a rescue mission. The 31 crewmen aboard escaped over the ice to a companion vessel as the Breadalbane went down in 15 minutes.

Canadian scientists now report that after a three-year search of records about the ship, they have located it sitting upright in 110 meters of water. Using a robot camera device, they said they have taken remarkably clear pictures of the Breadalbane, which has been well preserved by the ice and the supercold water "What we have is a treasure trove of 19th century Arctic exploration." reported one scientist. Located 1000 kilometers above the Arctic Circle, the Breadalbane is the world's northernmost known shipwreck.

    B. dived down to the wreck to explore it
    C. managed to refloat the boat using modern engineering techniques.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel, a Swedish inventor and philanthropist, bequeathed most of his vast fortune in trust as a fund from which annual prizes could be awarded to individuals and organizations who had achieved the greatest benefit to humanity in a particular year. Originally, there were six classifications for outstanding contributions designated in Nobel’s will, including chemistry, physics, physiology or medicine, literature and international peace.

The prizes are administered by the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm. In 1969, a prize for economics endowed by the Central Bank of Sweden was added. Candidates for the prizes must be nominated in writing a qualified authority in the filed of competition. Recipients in physics, chemistry, and economics are selected by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences; and physiology or medicine by the Caroline Institute; in literature by the Swedish Academy; and in peace by the Norwegian Nobel Committee appointed by Norway’s parliament. The prizes are usually in Stockholm on December 10, with the King of Sweden officiating, an appropriate tribute Alfred Nobel on the anniversary of his death. Titanic is a romantic film, which was directed by Jameron. However, it’s also about a disaster. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

The film is about the sinking of the ship Titanic on its first voyage. The main characters are Jack Dawson and Rose Dewitt Bukater. Jack saves Rose from killing herself during the journey on board the ship. Although they are from different social classes, and Rose is already engaged, they fall in love. The film has a sad ending: the Titanic sinks and more than a thousand people die in the disaster, including Jack.

Critics say it is a must-see. I agree because the story is moving and the acting is excellent. The special effects, visuals and music are also incredible.

Polar bears are in danger of dying out. (25)_______ some other endangered animals, it's not hunters that are the problem, it's climate change. Since 1979, the ice cap at the Arctic Circle where the polar bears live has reduced in size by about 30 per cent. The temperature in the Arctic has slowly been rising and this is (26) _______  the sea ice to melt, endangering the polar bears' home. The polar bears' main sources of food are the different types of seals found in the Arctic. They catch them by waiting next to the air holes seals have made in the ice. (27) _______  the bears are very strong swimmers, they could never catch seals in water. This means that the bears really do rely on the ice to hunt. Polar bears also need sea ice to travel. They can cover a huge territory and often swim from one part of the ice to another. They have been (28) _______  to swim up to 100 km, but when there is less ice, they may have to swim further and this can (29) _______  fatal to the bears. A number of bears have drown in the last few years and scientists believe that it is because they were not able to reach more ice before they became too tired and couldn't swim any further.
