The Rocky Mountains run almost the length of North America. They start in the North-west, but lie only a (1) hundred miles from the centre in more sourthern areas. Although the Rockies are smaller (2) the Alps, they are no less wonderfull.

There are many roads across the Rockies, but the best way to see them is to pass by train. You start from Vancouver, (3) most attractive of Canada's big cities.
