Chúng ta sử dụng cấu trúc If I were you hoặc If I were in your position để đưa ra lời gợi ý.

Cấu trúc: If I were you/ I were in your position, I + would + do + O.

Em chú ý ở trước mệnh đề if có cụm I'm not going to (dấu hiệu thời gian tương lai). Dừng ở đây thôi chúng ta cũng có thể dễ dàng nhận ra được là ở đây mình sẽ phải dùng câu điều kiện loại 1.

Cấu trúc: If + S + V(s/es), S + will + V + O

Tạm dịch: Tất nhiên là tôi sẽ không đưa chiếc nhẫn kim cương cho cô ấy rồi, nếu tôi đưa nó thì cô ý sẽ bán đi.

Kiến thức: Câu điều kiện loại 1 - Type 1 conditionals

Câu này về cơ bản giống câu 3.

Tạm dịch: Nếu chúng tôi làm việc cả đêm thì chúng tôi sẽ hoàn thành chúng đúng hạn, nhưng chúng tôi không có dự định làm việc thâu đêm (đây cũng là 1 dấu hiệu thời gian tương lai).

4) If I were (be) Tom, I would get (get) a new battery.

Kiến thức: Câu điều kiện loại 2 - Type 2 conditionals

Câu này tương tự câu 1, chúng ta có thể dùng để refer về 1 ai đó.

Tạm dịch: Nếu tôi là Tom thì tôi sẽ mua 1 cục pin mới.

5) I’d go to see him more often if I lived (live) nearer.

Kiến thức: Câu điều kiện loại 2 - Type 2 conditionals

Chúng ta sử dụng câu điều kiện loại 2 để nói về 1 sự kiện không có thật ở hiện tại/tương lai.
