Ideally, what I’d like to do is helping other people, so I’m volunteering at an old folks’ home.
I had been longing for a meaningful experience, and I finally found it there.
What I really loved about going there was talking about all sorts of things with the people I met.
Some had traveled a lot and others had spent their whole lives in my little town. Even so, all of them had gone on such incredible journeys, which included: raising kids, learning skills, and overcoming challenges.
To be honest, I’ve traveled to the far most corners of the world and been on the most incredible journeys, through the stories that my friends have told me, both young and old. It’s both peaceful and fulfilling and I wouldn’t trade it for anything, neither would my friends because they know I’ll always be here for them when they return…

Volunteering is a job we do for the benefit of the community. Almost everyone s this job, and so do I. I often give books to children in wetlands, or help old people, especially those who are sick, I want to provide food, clothes and blankets for street children. I want to do it because I want to share the things I have with children who are in need. I hope no child will be hungry and cold. I will cook food and bring it to street children on the weekends. I will also encourage my friends to donate clothes and blankets to them.

The term community service refers to a donated activity or service carried out by a person or a group of people for the benefit and well being of the general public. Individuals who offer community service are known as volunteers. However, those are required to do so by the school, the government or a court cannot be termed as volunteers, since they are not doing the service out of their own will. People are involved in community service for different reasons and it is up to the individual to realize if it is worthwhile and why they are helping others. This article looks into some of the main beneficial aspects of community service.
Community service has now grown to be a vehicle for bringing a nation together. It is like the central point of a country, as there is a key importance on doing good for others. Every country wants its people to be disciplined and work for change. Community service comes at handy as it is the best way to inculcate this sense of responsibility to individuals. To attach an extra dimension to the aspect of reform, the judicial systems in many countries have recognized the importance of community service by handing over such projects to law breakers.
In addition, by participating in community service, children and teenagers are introduced to good values and morals. Values such as humbleness, gratefulness, honesty, sincerity and respect are among the important virtues that one can acquire from helping the community. The importance of community service eventually relies on how the provider perceives it. These programs are intended to inculcate a sense of community and civic engagement in people. The more hours people spend doing community work, the more the service will help them in realizing their educational, social and developmental goals.

Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity and is intended to promote goodness or improve human quality of life. In return, this activity can produce a feeling of self-worth and respect. There is no financial gain involved for the individual. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development, socialization, and fun. Volunteering may have positive benefits for the volunteer as well as for the person or community served.[1] It is also intended to make contacts for possible employment. It is helping, assisting, or serving another person or persons without pay. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work, such as medicine, education, or emergency rescue. Others serve on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural disaster.

Being a summer volunteer is one of the good things we can do in our student time. Instead of wasting our time playing games or wandering with our friends, we can join the Blue Summer campaign at schools. By doing so, we can become young volunteers to help people who are in need. I always remember last summer when our volunteer team had been to a poor countryside. That place even lacked of clean water and electricity, while in many other places people are wasting them. After a day of resting, we started to clean up the old school together, attended in the project of reconstructing a number of local bridges which funded by donors. We lived in some of the houses of the local people, and we spent time doing house chores, playing, and eating together. Although their lives are lacking of materials, their hearts are full of love and kindness. We helped them with our strength and the ebullient spirit of youth, and in return they took care of us so we could be safe and happy while we were away from home. After a month and a half, we successfully restored an old school and one bridge, and we built one more small new bridge. These things really helped children at that place had a better educational environment, and people had an easier road to go to work. Local people were very excited with those new constructions, and we promised to come back next summer to bring better things. When the volunteer trip ended, my parents were very happy when I came back home safely. I felt so proud of myself because I could prove that I was a mature person by helping other people. Summer is coming soon, and I cannot wait to be on my next volunteer trip together with my friends.

Yes, I have volunteering experience. I have participated in a local charity organization where I helped organize events and fundraisers to support underprivileged children. I also volunteered at a local animal shelter, where I assisted in taking care of the animals and finding them new homes.

Tình nguyện là gì?

Tại sao lại làm tình nguyện?
Hầu hết các tổ chức không có đủ nguồn lực – cả về tài chính lẫn nhân lực – để hoàn thành công việc mà họ mong muốn. Việc có được những người tình nguyện giúp cho những tổ chức này đến gần hơn với những mục tiêu mà họ theo đuổi. Khi bạn tham gia tình nguyện, một vài hay nhiều người sẽ nhận được lợi ích từ sự tham gia của bạn – một người già trong nhà dưỡng lão mà bạn ghé thăm, con đường mòn rậm cỏ mà bạn giúp dọn quang, chiến dịch mà bạn tham gia để bảo vệ những khu rừng mưa nhiệt đới, hay là những bạn học sinh mà bạn giúp họ học đọc học viết. Giúp đỡ những người xung quanh vừa giúp bạn cảm thấy vui vẻ thoải mái, vừa mang lại cho bạn tầm nhìn rộng lớn hơn về những gì đang diễn ra trên thế giới. Cuối cùng, tham gia tình nguyện đem lại cho bạn những kinh nghiệm mà cả nhà trường và người tuyển dụng sẽ rất hứng thú khi nhìn thấy chúng trong bản lý lịch của bạn.
Hoạt động tình nguyện liên quan tới những yếu tố nào?
Yếu tố quan trọng nhất của hoạt động tình nguyện là chính sự tận tâm của bạn. Cho dù chỉ là một giờ mỗi năm giúp đỡ cho một dự án làm sạch môi trường, hay là công việc tư vấn cho một dự án hai giờ mỗi tuần, khi tham gia một dự án bạn cần phải chắc rằng mình có thể hết mình với công việc. Điều này là quan trọng bởi vì, dù là bạn tình nguyện, thì mọi người vẫn tin tưởng vào bạn, và sự không chuyên tâm của bạn cũng sẽ ảnh hưởng đến họ.
Ngoài sự tận tâm, hầu như không có giới hạn cho những gì liên quan tới hoạt động tình nguyện. Hãy nghĩ về những gì làm bạn thích thú hoặc bạn có thể xem danh sách trên Idealist để biết được có những hoạt động gì. Bạn có thể đọc sách cho các em bé tiểu học, thăm những người già ở nhà dưỡng lão, làm việc tại một ngôi làng ở Guatemala, nhổ cỏ dại trong một khu vườn công cộng, thiết kế các trang Web, hoặc khởi động dự án của chính mình để giúp đỡ cộng đồng.
