During recent years, Hanoi has witnessed many substantial transformations. The historical city center is seeing a massive densification of its urban fabric, as well as growth in terms of height. In the case of the Old Quarter, for example, these trends have been accommodated by widespread demolition of traditional tube houses. Many older structures, when not demolished, have been modified.

Due to poor maintenance, beautiful old brick tile roofs were widely replaced with simple corrugated metal sheets to prevent leaks. Wooden shutters, also a typical feature of old Hanoi, were almost completely substituted with metal bars and glass windows. Later modifications were also made to allow for the installation of air conditioners, which have become a visually inharmonious feature to the historical facades.Without question, the Old Quarter should not be transformed into a stagnant museum piece, but the last remaining pearls of old residential houses should be preserved by providing homeowners with advise and economic support to renovate their houses in an authentic way.

Life has changed a lot over the past 50 years, and there are many good pastimes which seem to be dying out. Work in groups and search for a past tradition or pastime which you highly appreciate give reasons why you like it work out a plan to help preserve it. Then make a poster presenting your ideas and share it with your class.

We have to learn online, although it's effective, not everyone can learn it. Our lives are also disrupted a lot. We are not allowed to gather. Not allowed to stand close to talk to each other, creating distance between people. Some of you, just sitting at home and watching Phones and computers, greatly affect your health. It's time for summer holiday. What are you going to do during three months off? To me, I planed to do many things. I'm going to take a tour to another province with my family members in some days to relax. The tour is going to start on middle of June and lasting for a week. It must be tired a little bit but I like travelling and am exciting to wait for that. After the tour, I'm going back with my study. But they will be some extra subjects that I like. When I studied in school, I didn't have time to learn them. Can you guess what they are? You know, I'm going to learn drawing and kungfu. My parents also want me to learn English because they think it's good for me in the future. It's ok. I still have much time for that. I also like learning English. Besides studying, I'm thinking of finding a part time job. Most of my friends are searching for a job to earn some money. This will help us get more experiences and be independent too. I'm going to ask my parents for their pemission. But I think they will accept since it's useful for me. With this plan, I think I'll have a interesting and meaningful holiday. How about your plan?

I think life in the countryside has many advantages. Firstly, people are very friendly. Secondly , the space is very large. We can play, shout or run around without disturbing others. Thirdly, we can go swimming, go fishing interesting things. Moreover, life is peaceful. Then food is very fresh and especially vegetables. Finally , there are a lot of tradition activities that I can join. In short, if I have a chance to live in the country. I think I will be very happy.

Every person on the planet has his own life and obligations. Some of them have adifficult life and other an easy one, but that depends on the jobs they have. Mine is verycomplicated and I have free time “Once in a blue moon“, but when I have some free time Iwrite poems like this one. Now I will start to write about my daily routine. My day starts as an ordinary morning. I tidy my bed, brush my teeth, take a shower, have breakfast bla bla ... The breakfast is the best time to communicate with your parents. When we sit down we start talking about our dreams and about whether, that dream is amessage from the future. After we share our thoughts every one of us goes to work (exceptme). I sit down and start doing my homework. After two hours practicing my lessons I startphoning all my buddies. At one p.m I go to school where I study so hard, that when I comeback from there I feel dizzy. At school I am very serious (well, sometimes to be honest) and Iam concentrated on my work. After a day of hard work at school I go home and relax. Whenmy head calms down me and my family sit down for dinner and share our daily work andexperience throughout the day. At half past eight I turn on the TV and watch “Big Brother”.My favorite person is Naiden but that is not important. At eleven o’clock I go to bed and startdreaming about my next day and pray to be alive. As I said before, every man has his own life, but some of them dream of it. I dream of a world full of peace and no war. I wish that my days are happy and lovely. Do not worryabout the past; pray that you will be alive tomorrow.

A lot of people have different daily routines, but I think that is one of the most excitingdaily routines. So I get up at six o’clock early in the morning, because I have a lot of thingsto do during my day. First I have a cold shower, because I am sill sleepy when I get up, thenI eat and watch my favourite morning show with Slavi Trifanov. At half past nine I go to thegym and practise my muscles hard. At half past twelve I go back to home and have a showeragain. At half past one I go to the parachute jumping base. At three o’clock we are in the skyand do our first jump for the day. When we finish with the parachute jumps. At four o’clock I go to my bunjy jumping base, because I have some students who want to learn how to bunjy jump. When I finish my work at half past six, I go home and call my girlfriend tell her that Ilove her. Then I have dinner and watch television. At ten o’clock I go to bed. Now I amready for my daily routine again, because I like my job and my life.

I am a student. I lead a disciplined life. Regularity in work has become a habit with me. Hence my daily life follows a very simple routine. I rise very early in the morning begin my day with my morning prayer. Then I go for a walk in the open fields. There I perform my breathing exercise and take in as much oxygen from the fresh morning air as possible. On coming back, I take my bath. After my breakfast, I take to studies. I continue reading till 9.30 A.M. Then I prepare myself to go to school. The school begins at 11 A.M. But I am at school at least ten minutes earlier. On reaching school, I make it a point to occupy one of the seats of the front benches. This I do for two reasons: first, I like to be as near the teacher as possible and secondly, I have known from experience that the back benchers are generally deficient in their studies. We learn various subjects according to the school time-table. I prepare my lessons well everyday. I am always in the good grace of my teachers. The school breaks at 4.P.M. After school hours I return home at 4.30 P.M. After taking some light refreshment, I go -to the play ground to take part in various games, specially hockey. It refreshes my brain and makes my body active. At about sunset, I get back home. After my evening prayers, I sit down to study and continue upto 8.30 P.M. when I am called to take my supper. After supper, I spend sometime with my brothers and sisters watching T.V. programmes. Very soon sleep overpowers me and I go to bed. On holidays; I sometimes visit my friends and relatives. Life on holidays will necessarily create a breach of the regular routine. But I never break the golden rule "Early to bed and early to rise."

My daily life is set within a routine and I try to follow that very strictly. It is my habit to get up from bed early in the morning. After easing and cleaning myself I take my ablution and say my Fazar prayer. Then I go out for a walk in the open air for about half an hour . Having returned, I sat for studying. Then I take my breakfast and do my home task. I bathe and take my meal around ten and get ready to attend school. I come back from school around four o’clock. I change my dresses , wash myself and eat whatever mother gives me to eat. Then I go to the play-ground and play with my friends. Coming back I say my evening prayer. Then I sat down to read. At 9.00 pm I take my supper and watch TV. I go to bed around ten o’clock. Besides this I read the daily newspapers .There are minor changes in my routine on holidays. On holidays I go to different places to remove my monotony .This is in brief the description of my typical day. I am happy about the way I spend my daily life.

As a student, I lead a life of honesty and simplicity. By habit I get up early from bed and clean my parts of the body and brush my teeth with a brush. I take physical exercise to keep my body healthy and fit and if it becomes advantageous for me, I take a walk of about one kilometer.

I get refreshed with the morning walk or a little exercise and then prepare myself for the study with utmost sincerity. It is against my principle to put off today's work for tomorrow or to have any private tutor. I accept the guidance of my elder brother who has proficiency in English and mathematics as well.

After devoting myself to study from 7 A.M. to 9 A.M., I play games for sometime without having any rigid rules. After bathing in the well, I take my meal prepared by my mother at 9.45 A.M. and proceed to the school situated at a distance of only one furlong from my home.

The classes begin at 10.30 A.M. usually. I go to school with my good friends and occupy the first bench. On the way to school I talk a great variety of topics with students coming from different parts of the town. I maintain punctuality in attending classes. The first period begins with English taught by our Headmaster. I do have an aptitude for this subject. Our class begins after the prayer class and after the National Anthem is sung.

All our subjects like Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, Sanskrit, etc. are covered within the eight periods. We avail of the recess after the third period.

In the classes we listen to the teachings of the teachers with rapt attention. The recess is allowed for an hour. In the recess hour I take the Tiffin given by my mother in a Tiffin box. I play some outdoor games like foot ball or cricket for energizing my spirits. In the recess time also I talk of the topics taught in the classes with my friends and come to class at 2 P.M.

The recess breaks at 2 P.M. and thereafter we continue for four periods. The school breaks up at 4.30 P.M. in the afternoon and I get back home. Having placed my books and notes in the proper place I wash my hands and face. After having a little Tiffin I proceed to the playground for playing games of different kinds. I play hockey, kabadi, football, cricket and other games as it suits to me or to my friends. In the playground students of different classes meet together and make friends with one another.

I return home at 6 P.M. and prepare my lessons after getting my dresses changed and after washing my hands, feet and face. I begin my studies at about 6.30 P.M. and devote to the study of English and Science. As a matter of habit, I read for about two and half hours and take my supper at 9.30 P.M.

There is a slight change in the routine on Sunday which is a holiday. I engage myself in washing the uniform dresses of school. I also visit a movie or theatre. I spend the Sundays in a different way than on the other days. This is all about my daily life as a student.

Life in the city has long been a hankering for many people because of the benefits it brings. First, it provides us with many employment opportunities to increase income, feed ourselves and our families. There are a lot of kind of jobs from teachers, maketing, designers, ... which need a great human resource. Therefore, people feel easy to find a suitable job. In addition, the quality of life in cities is much better than in rural areas. The infrastructure is modern and there are full of services for the people. More and more entertainment centers, commercial centers, hospitals and schools are built. It means that people's health is better and their needs for entertainment are better. However, besides these positive aspects, the city still has some drawbacks. First of all, because of many factories, transportation and large population, the air here is very polluted, the road is full of smoke and dust, as a result it makes a bad effect on people's health. In addition, due to immigration, so many people rushed to the city so the cost of services and equipment is quite expensive. This is also the cause of a number of social evils such as theft, addiction, gambling, ... Today there are many large cities grow up, more and more people migrate in the city, but besides the positive aspects, the city still has limitations that no one wishes. Everyone should take consideration before deciding where to live.

Life in the city is full of activity. Early in the morning hundreds of people rush out of their homes in the manner ants do when their nest is broken. Soon the streets are full of traffic. Shops and offices opens, studend flock to their school and the day’s work begins. The city now throb with activity, and it is full of noise. Hundreds of sight-seers, tourists and others visit many places of interest in the city while businessmen from various parts of the world arrive to transact business.

The towards evening, the offices and day schools begin to close. Many of the shops too close. There is now a rush for buses and other means of transport. Everyone seems to be in a hurry to reach home. As a result of this rush, many accidents occur. One who has not been to the city before finds it hars to move about at this time. Soon, however, there is almost no activity in several parts of the city. These parts are usually the business centres.

With the coming of night, another kind of activity begins. The streets are now full of colourful lights. The air is cooler and life becomes more leisurely. People now seek entertainment. Many visit the cinemas, parks and clubs, while others remain indoors to watch television or listen to the radio. Some visit friends and relatives and some spend their time reading books and magazines. Those who are interested in polis discuss the latest polial developments. At the same time, hundreds of crimes are committed. Thieves and robbers who wait dor the coming of night become active, and misfortune descends upon many. For the greed of a few, many are killed, and some live in constant fear. To bring criminals to juse, the officers of the law are always on the move.

Workers and others who seek advancement in their careers attend educational institutions which are open till late in the night. Hundreds of them sit for various examinations every year. The facilities and opportunities that the people in the city have to futher their studies and increase their knowledge of human affairs are indeed many. As a result, the people of the city are usually better informed than those of the village, where even a newpaper is sometimes difficult to get.

The city could, therefore, be described as a plave of ceaseless activiy. Here, the drama of life is enacted every day.

The place I am living in is a beautiful little city near the sea. The infrastructure here is quite advanced and modern. In the past, the number of vehicle was so high, so traffic congestion often occurred, especially during the rush hours. However, recently, most people have been travelled by public transport using alternative energy instead of private vehicles, so the city has significantly reduced traffic congestion and pollution. The city also has many big and small amusement parks, movie theaters, restaurant ... to satisfy the needs of consumers. My favorite place in this city is the huge harbor. Every day, there are thousands of ships and boats going back and forth, of fishermen, traders or tourists. The atmosphere of the market is very vibrant and bustling. This is also the factor that makes the city become prosperous and rich. Moreover, the people in the city are very friendly, open minded and very aware of environmental protection. So even though there are many factories and vehicles, the city is still clean, beautiful, the air is fresh and cool. I love this city very much, hope that in the near future, the city will grow and become more and more modern.
