Bác Hồ là một tấm gương tiêu biểu về lối sống giản dị. Điều đó được thể hiện trong cuộc sống hằng ngày của Bác. Bác sống trong một chiếc nhà sàn chỉ “vỏn vẹn có vài phòng dùng làm nơi tiếp khách, nơi họp Bộ chính trị, nơi làm việc và ngủ”. Hằng ngày, bữa ăn của Người có vài ba món hết sức đơn giản. Đó là các món ăn dân tộc không chút cầu kì như kho, rau luộc, dưa ghém, cà muối, cháo hoa... Cách ăn mặc của Bác cũng hết sức giản dị: bộ áo nâu, chiếc áo trấn thủ, đôi dép lốp thô sơ. Bác Hồ còn là một người say mê lao động: Bác suốt đời làm việc, suốt ngày làm việc, từ những việc lớn như cứu nước đến việc nhỏ như trồng cây trong vườn, viết một bức thư cho đồng chí… Trong quan hệ với mọi người, Bác luôn quan tâm và yêu quý như người thân trong gia đình. Giản dị trong đời sống, nên Hồ Chí Minh cũng giản dị trong lời nói và bài viết. Cách nói, cách viết của người đều dễ hiểu với mục đích cho quần chúng hiểu được, nhớ được và làm được. Lối sống giản dị của Bác Hồ thật đáng ngưỡng mộ, noi theo.
