Writing a holiday postcard
One of the last things you hear from your friends or neighbours as you go away on holiday is "Send us a postcard!"
It's one of those great holiday traditions, almost as "British" as a bucket and a spade on a beach. We send postcards (often on the last day of the holiday) to tell our friends what a great time we're having.
Holiday postcards have three main characteristics. They're short, positive (even if it's raining) and predictable in their content.
Here's a quick guide to writing a postcard. Choose any one of the adjectives to complete your sentences.
Hi (name of friend / neighbour / colleague)
We're having a great / wonderful / fantastic / fabulous time here in ......
The weather is hot / sunny / perfect and we're spending our days on the beach / sightseeing / relaxing / exploring the local area / by the pool.
The food is interesting / spicy / pretty good and the other people hare are (nationality), friendly / unfriendly / great.

Dear Quynh
I am having a wonderful time in Hue. The people are very friendly and hospitable but the weather is rather cold and humid.
In Hue, I visited my uncles and aunts. I met all my cousins and we were all happy to see each other. My cousin Nam showed me round every interesting place in Hue such as: Trang Tien Bridge, Ngo Mon Gate, Mausoleums of Nguyen Dynasty, Thien Mu Pagoda, cct. It was very exciting.
I bought lots of souvenirs and photos for my family and friends.

Nói đến phụ nữ Việt Nam là nói đến tà áo dài truyền thống. Tà áo dài từ bao đời nay đã mang đậm bản sắc dân tộc. Nó quả là một nét đẹp của đất nước Việt Nam yêu dấu.
Chao ôi tà áo dài mới duyên dáng thướt tha làm sao! Là người Việt Nam hay người ngoại quốc khi nhìn thấy nó cũng phải thốt lên như vậy. Thân áo dài, tà áo sát tới tận gót chân được các nhà may khéo léo thổi hồn Việt Nam vào đó mà bất cứ ai ai mặc vào cũng cảm thấy mình đẹp hơn, duyên dáng hơn. Chất liệu vải rất mền mại còn mầu sắc của áo thì rất phong phú: xanh, đỏ, tím, vàng, lục, lam, tràm, tím,... vv. Màu nào cũng đẹp, mầu nào cũng tươi tắn. Mỗi một mầu đều mang một vẻ đẹp rất riêng.
Eo áo được may ôm sát lấy thân hình trông rất kín đáo mà cũng thật quyến rũ. Cổ áo cao ôm sát lấy cổ trông rất đẹp. Tà áo được theu hoặc phun hoa những cảnh đẹp hay những hình ảnh của đất nước tùy theo sở thích của từng người. Đường kim, mũi chỉ của tà áo được may thật cẩn thận. Phần tà áo chủ yếu là những đường may tay khéo léo. Đi kèm với chiếc áo là một chiếc quần lụa, ống rộng. Khi mặc vào ta mới thấy hết được vẻ đẹp của áo.
Đã từ lâu, chiếc áo dài đã trở thành niềm tự hào của dân tộc Việt Nam nói chung và người phụ nữ Việt Nam nói riêng. Chiếc áo được mặc trong những ngày lễ long trọng của gia đình hay những ngày lễ lớn của cơ quan, đất nước. Ngày nay, chiếc áo dài Việt Nam còn được bạn bè quốc tế yêu quý và mặc nó. Dù là ai đi chăng nữa, bất cứ người phụ nữ nào, khi mặc chiếc áo dài đều cảm thấy rất duyên dáng và nữ tính. Đặc biệt ở đâu, nơi nào có chiếc áo dài xuất hiện thì ở đó có một vẻ đẹp rất riêng, rất Việt Nam mà bất cứ đất nước nào không thể có được.
Chiếc áo dài Việt nam quả là một niềm tự hào của dân tộc. Nó không những tôn vinh vẻ đẹp của người con gái áo Việt Nam mà nó còn là một di sản văn hóa mà cha ông ta để lại. Em rất yêu quý chiếc áo dài, mong được nhìn nó nhiều hơn trong những ngày lễ hội và vẻ đẹp của tà áo dài sẽ sống mãi với lịch sử của đất nước.

Hanoi is a dreamy city has been infatuated human heart. Besides the noise and busyness, that is the poe and peaceful beauty. From long time ago, Hanoi was famous for thirty-six streets… Each street is a village, has unique characteriss unique. In general, people here are very elegant, open-minded and friendly. They are very willing to give directions to tourists and even invite them home. Besides, they are also very hardworking people, always try their best in life. Most of their time they spend on working and raising their children. Coming to Hanoi, we can not ignore the tourist attractions such as Bat Trang pottery village, the Temple of Literature, President Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, one pillar pagoda, ... They are associated with the existence and development of Hanoi, also Vietnam. Here, we will be attracted by the special dishes such as Vong Rice, Trang Tien ice cream, Ho Tay shrimp cake ... They are very delicious and are special characteris of Hanoi, not similar to anywhere. For me, Hanoi is a beautiful and poe city. Hope that one day, I will meet the dream of a travel to Bat Trang pottery.

Hà Nội mộng mơ từ lâu đã say đắm trái tim bao con người. Bên cạnh sự ồn ào tấp nập, đó chính là vẻ đẹp nên thơ, thanh bình. Từ xưa, nơi đây đã nổi tiếng với ba mươi sáu phố phường. Mỗi phố là một làng nghề, có những đặc điểm riêng biệt độc đáo. Nhìn chung con người nơi đây rất thanh lịch, cởi mở và thân thiện. Họ rất sẵn lòng chỉ đường cho khách du lịch và thậm chí mời về chơi nhà. Bên cạnh đó, họ cũng là những con người vô cùng cần cù chăm chỉ, luôn nỗ lực vươn lên trong cuộc sống. Phần lớn thời gian của họ dành để làm việc mưu sinh và nuôi nấng con cái. Đến với Hà Nội, ta không thể bỏ qua những điểm du lịch hấp dẫn như làng gốm Bát Tràng, văn miếu Quốc tử giám, lăng chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh, chùa một cột,... Chúng gắn liền với sự tồn tại và phát triển của Hà Nôi cũng như Việt Nam. Tại đây, chúng ta sẽ bị thu hút bởi các món ăn đặc sản như cốm Vòng, kem Tràng Tiền, bánh tôm Hồ Tây,... Chúng rất thơm ngon và là những nét rất riêng của Hà Nội, không lẫn với bất kì làng quê nào khác. Đối với tôi, Hà Nội là một thành phố xinh đẹp, nên thơ, mong rằng một ngày nào đó, thôi sẽ thỏa được ước mơ làm gốm Bát Tràng.

I arrived in Tokyo, Japan 2 days ago. The weather is really nice! Mai, my best friend and I are going to stay here for 7 days! We are staying in a small hotel in the center of the city. The view from the hotel is so nice and wonderful! I have visited some famous temples such as Sensoji Temple, Tennoji Temple, Yushima Seido,… and tried the matcha.
Tomorrow I am going to my friend’s house in Kyoto. I feel very excited to discover thí beautiful city!

We’re having a good time here in Ho Chi Minh City, but the weather isn’t very nice. It rained almost every day, many streets were flooded. So I limited to go out. And there were too many traffic jams. There are many vehicles at rush hours and traffic jams occur frequently. It was more terrible when it rained heavily. However I also had great time when visiting some places. I went camping in Suoi Tien Park, I swam shallow in the artificial sea. If you went the War Remnants Museum and Reunification Palace, you would see a lot of physical reminders of the past. My feeling is very great and very difficult to describe. My period in Ho Chi Minh City was short and because of objective reasons, so I only visited those places. Tell you something, when I come back, we talk to each other more.

Dear Nam,
Thank you for your letter. I'm glad to hear you and your family are well. Last month, I went on a trip to London with my family. We went there to visit my uncle. It took us 8 hours to fly from Hanoi so when we got off the airport we felt very tired. After leaving the airport, we boarded a bus to go to my uncle's house. We have a lot of stories to tell each other. On the next day, my family and I went around the city, enjoying the street food here. They are really delicious, I really like them. And for the next two days, we stayed at our uncle's house and reviewed our memories together. We returned after three days there. The trip was really fun. I am very excited. And you, have you visited any city before? Please write to tell me about it.

Hello! How are you? I couldn't write to you for a long time, because I was very busy studies. I want to tell you about my life in the city.
I live in Ukraine, Odessa. Odessa is a really exciting city with million beautiful people. People are friendly and honest with other because they always spend a lot of time together. Example, most they attend restaurants with their friends and make picnics, walk in the park. Streets in the city are very big and clean because here people throw rubbish in a bin and care about nature.
I living here now. Odessa has different wonderful places. My favorite place is Ukrainian theater because there come talented actors. In my opinion, the weather in Odessa is varied, so people are always intterested what it is going to be tomorrow. But I when it is sunny. Buildings here are beautiful, although I don't all of them. The biggest and greatest building is City Center. There you can go shopping and spend good time with your family and friends.
