Nicola Peet left school at eighteen, went to college and then worked at a local airport. After nine months, she went to work for Saudi Arabian Airlines and then she joined British Airways as n air-hostess. For years later, she got her present job as a manager.

This is what she told us about her job:

“ My office is at Heathrow Airport, but I spend 60% my time in the air, I teach air-hostesses and help them with any problems. I also go to lots of meetings. My hours are usually from 8 am to 4 p.m but sometimes I work from 1 pm to 9 pm. At work, the first thing I do is to check plane time on my computer and then I speak with some of the air-hostesses. Sometimes I go on long flights to check how the air-hostesses are doing. That’s my favorite part of job, but I like office work too. Traveling can be a hard work. When I get back from a long journey, all I can do is eating something and then going to bed! Exercise 1: I went to the concert last night with my friends

Dear Oanh,

Thank you very much for your letter which arrived a few days ago. It was lovely to hear from you. I am sorry, I haven’t written for you such along time because I studied hard to pass the final exam. However, I had agreat weekend more than every when I went to live concerts last night with my friends. Now, I am writing to tell you how the wonderful concert is.

It is the beautiful concert I have ever taken part in with many people and the miracle of sound of piano. As you know, my pianist is Yiruma and in last concert I couldn’t believe that he appeared in my eyes and gave me a big hug after his performance. I also listen a soothing music which is played by him and other professional musicians. Only when I heard his song from the stage I feel anythings around me seem to disappear and I can fly with many stars on the sky to forget all my fears which I suffered before.

That is amazing.

Let’s come back to my live concert. It is so cool and until now I can’t forget my feeling about it. Do you often to go live concerts? What kind of music do you like listening to? Who is your favourite singer?

I am glad if you tell me about it in the next letter

Exercise 2: We had dinner at a new restaurant yesterday

Dear Oanh,

Thank you very much for your letter which arrived a few days ago. It was lovely to hear from you.

I think the restaurant which you told me in the letter is very interesting. I also like to eat out and I usually go to a restaurant for dinner with my family tiwce a month. Our favourite restaurant is a traditional restaurant in Hang Bong street. It is not big but it is always busy. There are only afew tables in the restaurant and on each table is a vase with lovely flowers. There are plants in the room corners. I usually order the traditional dishes and eat them with rice. For example, fish cooked with sauce, spring roll,…and vegetable and so on. The food is deliciuous so we enjoy it very much. The service is also quick and frienfdly . My family always have pleasant evening at our favourite restaurant.

Shall we go there when you come to visit my family next time?

Tôi không thể tưởng tượng sống cuộc sống của tôi mà không có gia đình của tôi bên cạnh tôi. Gia đình là rất quan trọng và có giá trị đối với tôi và là một cái gì đó mà không bao giờ nên được đưa cho các cấp. Không có gia đình tôi, một phần lớn cuộc sống và văn hóa của tôi sẽ bị mất tích. Cho dù đó là ông bà của tôi, hai chị em của tôi, mẹ tôi, hoặc bố tôi, tôi biết tôi luôn có thể dựa vào một ai đó để giúp tôi cảm thấy tốt hơn. Trong thực tế, tôi nghĩ rằng đây có lẽ là điều quan trọng nhất mà gia đình tôi đã dạy tôi; một gia đình được tạo thành từ những người bạn có thể tin tưởng và bạn có thể tin tưởng ai. Tôi thực sự yêu thích khu phố của tôi. Nó là một nơi an toàn yên tĩnh với tuyệt vời
người hàng xóm. Tóm lại, khu phố của tôi là tốt đẹp để sống khu phố in.My là yên tĩnh. Tất nhiên, khi những đứa trẻ về nhà, có nhiều tiếng ồn; nhưng, nó là tương đối yên tĩnh cả ngày trong khu phố của tôi. Ngoài ra, tôi cảm thấy an toàn trong khu phố của tôi.
