“A” và “An” dùng chỉ những sự vật, hiện tượng cụ thể người nghe không biết, “The” chỉ sự việc cả người nói và người nghe đều biết.

Dùng “The” khi nói về một vật riêng hoặc một người mà cả người nghe và người nói đều biết. – “The” cũng được dùng để nói về một vật thể hoặc địa điểm đặc biệt, duy nhất.
