Everybody has his or her own hobby. My favourite hobby is reading. I enjoy reading a book when I am free. I started to get the hobby from my father when I was four years old. My father is a researcher so he has a great collection of books on many fields: literature, science, art,…
I enjoy reading because it allows me to explore my own imaginative world. I keep the hobby of reading at least one hour every day. I usually read books at home, in my own room, at my office or at the local library. On my freetime, I can spend hours reading and thinking about facts described in each kind of books.
My favourite author is J.K.Rowling who wrote world-famous books “ Harry Potter”.
For me a good book is not only a true companion but also a well-experienced teacher guiding me through my life. There are a lot of advantages of reading. Reading makes me feel relaxed and calm. It has the miracle to relieve my suffering and my hardship and reveal to me strange and new horizons. I can also learn new vocabularies and grammars. So I can further improve my English. Moreover, it gives me unlimited imaginations. I can learn about different cultures of other countries in the world, too.
Instead of indulging myself in futile entertainments, I am often keen on reading books, which broadens my mind and improves my knowledge.
In a few words, the reading of books contributes to the moral and intellectual formation of a man. I love reading and I love books. I will collect more and more books and I wish I can write my own books in the future.

I would like to talk about the Lunar New Year festival, also known as the Tet holiday, which is the occasion expected the most by Vietnamese people every year. The festival usually lasts for around 3-4 days, and it takes place when a new year comes according to the lunar calendar.
The Lunar New Year festival takes place because it is one of the most well-known traditions of Vietnam. Our people have been celebrating this occasion for thousands of years, and although there has been some recent argument about whether we should stop celebrating this festival, I do not think this activity will come to an end soon, at least not in the short term.
There are some common things that people do during this festival. Perhaps the most important thing is that people who work and study in big cities would go back to their hometown to celebrate the new year with their families and relatives. The new year festival is one of very few occasions that families can gather together, so it is easy to understand why everyone in Vietnam expects this festival so much. Another thing that we usually do is that we give children some “lucky money” with the hope that it will bring fortune to those kids. We also have some other activities such as making “chung” cake, visiting temples and pagodas… and so on.
The new year festival is so important to me and also to all Vietnamese citizens. The reason is because we get more days off from work and study, and therefore we have more time to spend with our families and our loved ones. It is also a great time to think about what we have done in the previous year, and to make plans for the upcoming year.

My sister is called Veronica. She is four years older than me and when we were little kids, we used to argue a lot. But now that we are older and more and more mature, we get on with each other really well and see eye to eye on a lot of things.
Veronica is a very charming girl. She is slim, with very long dark curly hair. Her eyes are hazel brown and she’s got a fair complexion.
My sister has been into clothes ever since we were kids, so her appearance is always very stylish – either tight jeans, an impressive top and high – heeled shoes or a beautiful dress combined with remarkable accessories.
Veronica is a very active person who loves the outdoor life. She is always smiling and kind. As well as this, my sister is very practical and smart. She is well - organised and doesn’t waste her time. The thing I appreciate most about her is her thoughtfulness. Veronica is very helpful and caring and is able to brighten up one’s day every time they feel down. She can also give me the best advice whenever I have a problem, which is priceless and with her incredible sense of humour, she can make every person smile.
They say your relatives are you closest people – I absolutely agree with this statement and I feel very lucky because Veronica is not only my sister; she is also one of my best friends.

In my family, I love everyone but the person I love the most is probably my dear mother.For everyone, my mother is always my dearest and always cares about me, sharing with me different things in all circumstances.And everyone sees the best in his eyes but no one but our precious mother.As for me, my mother is the most beautiful, the only and most important person in my life.She is very beautiful.She has short hair and an oval face that looks beautiful.The slender nose is not very beautiful, but the more beautiful it is on the delicate face of the mother.Fresh pink lips when smiling like flowers just revealed the white teeth.Her mother's face is not white but it is full of age spots and crow's feet.The high cheekbones made her face become thinner and for me the face was always clear in my mind, it can't be forgotten.Her hands are not as white and smooth as the other hands, but they are rough because of how many years of earning money to feed me.So I really love my mother and I want to say "I love you".

Tet is coming soon! I love Tet holiday so much. Why? Because it has a lots things I like about it. There are many things I like about Tet holiday.
First, I will get a lot of lucky money at Tet from my parents and grandparents. I will have a lots lucky times in new year.
Second, after getting up, I get my dress beautifully and go to visit your grandparents at Tet. After that, I will go to the 1st April Square to see firework display. That's great!
Finally, the foods in Tet are diversified and good. I like eating and drinking in Tet. Special food in Tet is 'banh chung' and 'banh tet'. It's is very nice and I can eat it during my Tet holiday!

"Do you have a close friend?" Surely everyone had ever encountered this question even once. The answer is also very much: yes, no, etc. ... My answer is once. The friend was gone forever, probably never coming back.
That friend has a very good name-Thao. It's pretty. Short black hair dotted with a few golden strands (not dyed with hair, but because it was sun-soaked). The delicate, lovely face is full of people. It is also tall but shorter than me.
My personality and it's very similar. Thao is very energetic, humorous and witty. I and she are the most similar in that place and are girls but playing with the boys.
Unfortunately, a drowning took it away. That day, she lay motionless on the bed, I gently shook her, but she still lay still. A fleeting thought: "Maybe now I and I can't run and play together anymore." "The moment it was buried deep in the ground, I could not hold back the tears. A strong kid like me now shed tears.

There are four people in my family : my parents , my brother and I . My father is forty-four years old. He is a worker in Truong Hai company. He is a jovial man who always tell many funny stories to make us smile. My father likes gardening very much as well as watching Tv programs. Unlike most men , my father likes cooking and he cooks very well. My mother is at the same age as my father.My mothers is also a worker . She likes cooking and traveling too, so whenever my parents have free time, we go some place interesting to relax . It's a great time. My brother is eight years old. He studies in primary school. He is interested in computer games and sports like football .I am now in my final year at the secondary school and in my attempt to win a place at university , i am under a lot of study pressure .However , being the eldest child and the only daughter in my family I try to help with the household chores such as wash the dishes , mop the floor and so on . Members of our family have very close relationships with each other . We often share our feelings, and whenever problems come up , we discuss them frankly and find solutions quickly. In sum , My family is important to me .I love my family very much

Dad has a tall, muscular body and dark skin because he spends a lot of time in the sun. Dad has a few gray hairs because he has to earn money to take care of the family. My mother is 40 years old and sells clothes and jewelry. Her mother's body is petite, with shoulder-length hair, round eyes and rosy lips. As for me, I'm 17 years old and still going to school. I have curly hair unlike my parents. My height is not very tall, but I'm quite good at studying. Even though my parents are busy, they still care about me, often buy me clothes, food, and often take me out. I love my parents very much, and I will try to study so that in the future I can take part in the work and take care of my parents.

Mặc dù bố mẹ em bận bịu nhưng vẫn quan tâm đến em, hay mua quần áo đồ ăn cho em, và hay đưa em đi chơi. Em rất yêu bố mẹ, và em sẽ cố gắng học để mai sau có thể đỡ 1 phần trong công việc và chăm sóc bố mẹ.
