Trước hàng loạt những sai phạm trong sử dụng phụ gia/ chất cấm của doanh nghiệp sản xuất TĂCN được phát hiện và xử lý thời gian qua, ngày 16/11/2015, Bộ Nông nghiệp và Phát triển nông thôn đã ban hành Thông tư số 42/2015/TT-BNNPTNT Ban hành Danh mục bổ sung hóa chất, kháng sinh cấm nhập khẩu, sản xuất, kinh doanh và sử dụng trong thức ăn chăn nuôi gia súc, gia cầm tại Việt Nam.
05 loại chất được bổ sung vào danh mục các chất cấm sử dụng trong sản xuất thức ăn chăn nuôi gồm: Vat Yellow 1, Vat Yellow 2, Vat Yellow 3 và Vat Yellow 4 hay còn gọi là “vàng ô”. Chất Auramine hay còn được gọi là màu vàng 2 - sử dụng trong công nghệ dệt nhuộm cũng được bổ sung vào danh mục này.
Tồn dư chất “vàng ô” trong thực phẩm có khả năng gây hại cho người tiêu dùng, tuy nhiên, loại chất này vẫn được một số doanh nghiệp sản xuất TĂCN lén lút sử dụng vì mục đích lợi nhuận.
Vat Yellow là tên gọi của một nhóm hóa chất được sử dụng phổ biến trong sản xuất giấy và công nghiệp dệt (nhuộm màu vàng sợi nhân taọ, vải, len, cotton...). Chất này được khuyến cáo chỉ dùng trong công nghiệp, tuyệt đối không được dùng trong thực phẩm hoặc làm phụ gia trộn vào thức ăn cho người và động vật.
Doanh nghiệp sản xuất TĂCN sử dụng chất vàng ô nhằm tạo màu vàng cho cám, đánh lừa cảm quan người dùng khi lựa chọn vì cho rằng thức ăn có nhiều ngô. Khi cho gà ăn loại cám này sẽ tạo màu vàng đẹp mắt cho da gà.

Ngày 11/07/2014, Cục Chăn nuôi – Bộ NN&PTNT ra Quyết định số 206/QĐ-CN-TĂCN chỉ định phòng thử nghiệm thuộc VinaCert là Phòng thử nghiệm thức ăn chăn nuôi, mã số chỉ định: LAS-NN 01.
Ngày 05/05/2015, Cục Chăn nuôi – Bộ NN&PTNT ra Quyết định số: 211/QĐ-CN-TĂCN chỉ định VinaCert là tổ chức chứng nhận sự phù hợp chất lượng thức ăn chăn nuôi gia súc, gia cầm xuất khẩu, nhập khẩu - thời hạn hiệu lực của Quyết định là 2 năm kể từ ngày 5/5/2015.
