Last summer, I had a chance to join my friend's family on a trip to his home village, about 30 kilometers to the north of Da Nang. The village (25) lies near the foot of Hai Van Pass. We went there by car. Our car ran at an average speed, (26) so we could enjoy the beautiful sights along the road. The green paddy fields stretched as far as the eye could see.
