Nick: There are so many pieces of pottery here, Phong. Do your grandparents make all of them?

Phong: They can't because we have lots of products. They make some and other people make the rest.

Nick: As far as I know, BatTrang is one of the most famous traditional craft villages of Ha Noi, right?

Phong: Right. My grandmother says it's about 700 years old.

Mi: Wow! When did your grandparents set up this workshop?

Phong: My great-grandparents started it, not my grandparents. Then my grandparents took over the business. All the artisans here are my aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mi: I see. Your village is also a place of interest of Ha Noi, isn't it?

Phong: Yes. People come here to buy things for their house. Another attraction is they can make pottery themselves in workshops.

Nick: That must be a memorable experience.

Phong: In Viet Nam there are lots of craft villages like Bat Trang. Have you ever been to any others?

Mi: I've been to a conical hat making village in Hue!

Nick: Cool! This is my first one. Do you think that the various crafts remind people of a specific region?

Mi: Sure. It's the reason tourists often choose handicrafts as souvenirs.

Phong: Let's go outside and look round the village.

What is your dream life? This is a fairly common question in modern life and the answer to this question is mostly different. So how do you answer this question? This is my answer.

I wish I lived in a big house on a large lake in the forest because the air here is very fresh. It has four floors and four bedrooms throughout in order to see the stars at night, bathrooms for each bedroom and on the top floor outside is an enclosed porch. Our house is protected by the most modern system at that time.

I want to have a happy family. My husband is very handsome and smart. After 5 years I will 3 children. They are very cute and clever. My children are very smart and very cute. My son is cold but he knows how to take care of those around him very well. My first daughter is quite gentle, she can cook a lot of delicious food. But my second daughter is different from her sister. She is very energetic and she just knows to eat and sleep. But we are very close and have a lot of work to do with each other's lives like the other family. I think family is an inestimable present for me.

Every morning I wake up and swim in the lake or jogging, come to make coffee with the French press and make breakfast. Then I take my two dogs for a walk because I enjoy and love animals. After that, I go home and look after my garden, flowers, plants, and vegetables because I want my family can eat healthy things. I go fishing with my kids and my husband clean and cook for lunch. He will make food from fishes I bring back. After lunch, I clean with my husband. We talk to and watch some movies. Then I come to our orchard and pick a few apples and a cake that I want for dessert. I also choose vegetables and some fruits. I will practice yoga, Pilates or classes for my own flexibility. In the evening, I meditate for half an hour, relax with some music and taste a new wine. I will tell some fairy tales to my children. After they sleep, I bright wine into my husband's room. We talk and see the stars in the sky My husband will sing to me sleep. I fall asleep with dreams in my husband's lap. I will welcome the new day with a relaxed spirit.

This is my dream life. I wish It will become truth. And you, what is your dream life?

Part 2: You are going to read a magazine interview with a sportswoman. Seven sentences have
been removed from the article. Choose from the sentences A-H the one which fits each gap (1-7).
There is one extra sentence which you do not need to use. Write your answer in the numbered

A. But the Championships are different because there's only one chance and you have to be
ready to make the most of it.
B. In fact, some of them help me with my speed and ball-skills training.

The Netball Captain
In our series on women in sport, Suzie Ellis went to meet England's netball captain.
Kendra Slawinski is captain of England's netball team. When I met her, she'd had a typical day
for the weeks leading up to next month's World Championships: a day's teaching at a local school
followed by a training session in the local supermarket car park.
I was surprised to hear about her training venue.
„Don't you get strange looks?‟ I asked her. „I'm too involved in what I'm doing - concentrating
on my movements and my feet - to see anything else,‟ she said. „I might notice cars slow down out
of the corner of my eye, but that's all.‟

„My whole life now is all about making sure I'm at my absolute best for the Championships,‟
says Kendra.
„1.________‟ These are her fourth World Championships and they are guaranteed to be the
biggest ever, with 27 nations taking part.
„We'll have home support behind us, which is so special,‟ she says. „And it's important that the
reputation of netball in this country should be improved. 2.________ A home crowd will have
expectations and give more support. People will expect us to start t he tournament with a good
game.‟
Their first game is against Barbados and it comes immediately after the opening ceremony.
3.________ They have lots of ability.‟
The England team are currently ranked fourth in the world. But, as Kendra points out, the
World Championships will be tough. „You have to push yourself to play each day, there's no rest
between games as in a series. And you can still win an international series if you lose the first game.
4.________‟
In the fifteen years since she has been playing at top level, the sport has become harder, faster.
On court, players are more aggressive. „You don't do all that training not to come out a winner,‟
says Kendra.
5.________ „We're all friendlier after the game.‟
Netball is also taking a far more scientific approach to fitness testing.
„It is essential that we all think and train like world -class players,‟ says Kendra.
6.________ I see my role as supporting and encouraging the rest of the team.‟
„From the very beginning, my netball career has always been carefully planned, ‟ she says.
7.________
Doubtless she will coach young players in the future, but at the moment her eyes are firmly set
on her last big event. As she leads out her team in the opening candlelight ceremony, she is more
than likely to have a tear in her eye. Her loyal supporters will be behind her every step of the way.
