Last week we published an article that discussed why and how to establish family traditions. Traditions offer numerous benefits: they strengthen your family’s bonds, enrich the life you share together, contribute to your children’s well-being, and create lasting memories. For this reason, they form one of the three pillars of family culture.

Today we offer a list of over 60 specific family tradition ideas. You can incorporate some of these directly into your family, or use them as inspiration for creating your own traditions.

Before we get started, let’s cover a few things that will help ensure that your establishment of new traditions will be met with success:

While it’s tempting to go crazy with starting lots of traditions, shoot for quality over quantity. If you do a couple from within each category, you’re gold.
Choose traditions that most resonate with you. Having said that, as you review the list, try not to immediately write off some as silly or not elaborate enough. This isn’t only about what appeals to you as a jaded adult, but what will appeal to your kids. If you think back to your childhood, some surprisingly silly and simple stuff was a lot of fun and created great memories.
Traditions need to be practiced regularly to be effective. It’s easy to throw a tradition out the window when life gets busy and you’ve had a long day. Commit to the tradition and do your best to be as consistent as possible with it.
The ideas below come from The Book of New Family Traditions, from mine and Kate’s respective families, from our friends’ families, and from those we’ve come up with for our own family.

In my opinion, customs and traditions are very important for the Vietnamese life. Like other families, my family has our own customs and traditions. Firstly, there’s a custom in our family of children standing in a row to greet guests. It expresses respect to the guest from the host. Secondly we have the tradition of having lunch together on the second day of Tet. Everyone has to be there before 7 p.m to have the dinner and talk about the Tet holiday. Thirdly, It is the custom for my family to spend Sunday together. We usually go to supermarket or go for a picnic. Sometimes, my family celebrates grilled party. We all enjoy this customs and traditions because they provide our family with sense of belonging. Moreover, it makes us closer as a family and help make life better.

THAM KHẢO:
Like many families in my country, my family has a lot of traditions around Christmas time. We always decorate the tree together a few weeks before Christmas, and then we hang up our stockings by the fireplace on Christmas Eve. And we always read a book called “A child’s Christmas”. We start reading at the beginning of December and then we end right before Christmas day. And on Christmas day, we always go to my aunt and uncle’s house. And we skate on their pond, so all my family and my cousin’s, we all like skating, just really fun. And we hold Christmas dinner together. I love Christmas time and traditions that come with it. Yeah, it makes you feel very happy. It’s a joyful time when everybody expresses love and acceptance, so it’s very nice. I think it’s important to do things as a family because it’s good to pass down traditions. It makes you feel like you belong somewhere. And it’s just nice to have something to celebrate.

bài thứ nhất : Talk about your family customs and traditions

Almost everyone in the house will have a traditional custom. My house also has and I think everyone's customs will be similar to mine, that is, every 30 New Year's Eve my house is cleaned. Old things will be bought new to replace. And most especially, this traditional package of banh chung, banh tet, everyone must have. As soon as the cake is wrapped, we will sit together, we even stay up until night to steam the cake. Because of wrapping the cake, we sat together again and became closer. I really like this custom.

BÀi 2: Talk about your favorite festival in Vietnam

My favorite festival is Tet. Tet is the New Year's Eve moment between the old year and the new year. Before Tet, everyone is busy cleaning the house, preparing the peach blossom branches, making the trays, .. .. On New Year's Eve is also considered a reunion day for families to review the old stories of the past year and wish a prosperous and prosperous new year. On the first day of Tet, children are given money to celebrate their age, as well as adults' wishes for their children to grow up. That's why I love Tet so much.
