What list of Vietnamese cuisine would be complete without pho?

It's almost impossible to walk a block in Vietnam's major destinations without bumping into a crowd of hungry patrons slurping noodles at a makeshift pho stand. This simple staple consisting of a salty broth, fresh rice noodles, a sprinkling of herbs and chicken or beef, features predominately in the local diet -- and understandably so. It's cheap, tasty, and widely available at all hours.

My favorite Vietnamese dish is Spicy Beef Noodle. It's called Bun Bo Hue in Vietnamese. Bun, bo, and Hue mean rice noodles, beef, and Hue city, respectively. This a famous dish from Central Vietnam. The dish is very flavorful and spicy. This dish is best to eat when it is cold out. It contains rice noodles, beef, shrimp sauce, spicy broth, a squeeze of lime, and herbs that go along with it. The broth is made out of beef and pork bones, lemongrass, annatto and shrimp paste. The combination of these things in the broth gives it a robust taste. Some variation to this dish added imitation crabs, beef and pork meatballs, and more. Even though this dish isn't as popular as Pho, it is my favorite Vietnamese dish.

Street food in general if you ask.

I live in Ho Chi Minh City and still be amazed by its variety every day. The food is so delicious that it’s hard to forget after the very first bite.
Vietnamese food can easy to buy because they appear everywhere on the streets. You don’t also have to bring a lot of money to get full as the prices can vary from as little as 10,000 VND (0.5USD). In fact, with just 20,000 VND (less than a dollar), you can already have a satisfying noodle soup with meat for lunch or dinner.

So here is my must-try list
“Bánh mì”

You cannot miss this if you have travel to Vietnam! This light and fluffy wheat baguette is further defined by its fillings, which usually includes pate, mayonnaise, hot sauce and some fresh herbs. And the best thing is that the selection range is huge for this dish.

“Banh mi thit” has slices of meat, “Banh mi op la” is stuffed with fried eggs, “Banh mi heo quay” has roast pork belly with barbecue sauce, while “banh mi xiu mai” is a baguette served with a special sauce pork meatball cooked in a homemade tomato sauce.

If you like them all, ask the vendor to put all in! It’s that much more juicily delicious.

“Banh da xuc hen” (Crispy rice papers served with clams)

Although simple, this rice paper crisp with flavors of sesame and coconut, served with a bunch of tiny clams, chili and onion makes a light yet satisfying snack. Also a delicacy from the Central Vietnam, you need to do a little research for the places that sell this dish. If you’re lucky, you’ll find some vendors carrying the woven bamboo baskets like in the old days passing through your stay. If not, try out in the local restaurants that sell “bún bò Huế”, or other Huế dishes.

But the best taste is from home! If you have a local friend, ask if they know how to make this. It’s super rustic, a sense you’ll never forget.

“Bánh canh”

Tapioca noodles are fatter and more chewy. But the special thing is the broth. The recipe differs among sellers but it all has that same rich flavour. You can try it with either pork knuckle and sliced pork (banh canh gio heo), crab meat (banh canh cua), fish sausage (banh canh cha ca) or snakehead fish (banh canh ca loc). The variation is amazing. You can choose the best “bánh canh” dish as breakfast, lunch, snack, or even dinner! They sell this all day long! In the small family restaurants with those plastic shabby billboards in the front along the sides of the streets, in the local markets, and even just on the carts that people pull everywhere in the city.

Make sure to add several herbs, some lime juice, and chili sauce to season the dish to your liking. You can also eat this with a side dish of “bánh quẩy”, deep fried flour sticks that add a little extra to this already flavourful Ho Chi Minh City street food.

“Bánh tầm bì”

Vietnamese call this dish silkworm noodles because of the worm-like appearance of the tapioca noodles. The vendor would cover it with coconut sauce. Then they will mix together many types of vegetables, pork meatball, pork sausage and other flavorful condiments to form a delicious looking plate. Vietnamese mostly enjoy this as a snack. For this, you have to go into the markets to find. The taste might be a little strange at first for travelers because it’s a combination of sweetness and sour. But give it some time, and you’ll sure to love it. Nothing says Vietnamese authentic cuisine more than this Ho Chi Minh City street food.

One factor that makes eating Vietnamese food enjoyable is watching how the locals do it. Sometimes, learning how to eat is sometimes more interesting than actually eating the dishes. You’ll hear people tell you stories behind the dish, the deep and profound meaning behind every component, every step involved. You’ll know a lot more about Vietnamese culture on around the table than in any other tours.

Notice how within these steps, you’re more than likely to see a small family restaurants or a street vendors? That is because Vietnamese cuisine is so diverse.

My favorite obviously was nothing other than Phở (Vietnamese Noodle Soup).

It’s oftentimes a ridiculous salad of herbs and vegetables that arrives to the table either piled in a separate basket, or floating atop the broth, noodles and cuts of meat. It has a more aromatic smell. It has thin rice noodles.

Okay, I had to travel to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for an official purpose. So the vietnam employees threw a party on New Year's eve in a street shop.

This is another Noodle soup we had, don't remember the name.

Our Team enjoying Dinner :)

Lunch at a friend's home - Chicken Wings, Rice Noodle Soup, Oyster, Ostrich in Vietnamese style.

I love listening to music. Because listening to music will make me have a relaxed mind and relieve stress and fatigue after working and studying. Listening to music also helps me understand the author's emotional levels, know how to compose that song the author has to go through. I like to listen to sad, melodious and emotional songs the most. Usually I listen to Vietnamese songs but sometimes I listen to Chinese and Japanese songs ... And the songs I like best are: The devil comes from the paradise of China. Vietnam, Japan's hazy moon... because those are very good songs.

Around the world there are many cuisine but I still like spaghetti the most. The main ingredients to make spaghetti are noodles, beef and tomatoes. Besides, we can add onion, carrot, bean or other kind of vegetable. At weekends, my mother and I usually go to the market, buy goods and cook spaghetti for my family instead of traditional dishes. It’s easy to cook this food. All we have to do are boiling noodles, chopping beef and making a good sauce of tomatoes. There is a tip for a perfect sauce is adding a slice of lemon into it. If there is a need of vegetable, It can be served with carrot and peas. Spaghetti supplies high nutrients and several vitamins, which good for your health especially for diet people. Moreover, spaghetti is famous for its delicious taste and convenience as fast food. It’s known as typical traditional food of Italy. Although spaghetti originate from Europe, it’s more widespread in Asia specifically Vietnam. Nowadays, It is popular food not only in Italy but also in other countries.

Generally, people in Malaysia drink water to meet their thirst and sometimes they take some soft drinks as well Kickapoo, Fruit Tree, Ice Mountain, and Freedom Cola etc. But I prefer to have chocolate milk as my soft drink.

People drink soft drinks most of the cases when they are out of their home and need to meet their thirst for water. But interestingly, instead of water, they prefer the soft drink. But I do not take such soft drinks as those are made with different chemicals which are highly detrimental to the human health. Most of the soft drinks are filled with gases and some chemicals which are mostly used to prepare insecides and other chemical substances. It has been found that the elements used in the soft drinks and the substances used for toilet cleaner are almost the same. Once I used to take the soft drinks when I went for outing with my buddies but as I came to know about the harmful impacts of the soft drinks, I started avoiding them. Instead, I have made chocolate milk as my personalised soft drink. It is healthy and also keeps me strong.

Making chocolate milk at home is a bit troublesome and thus I have to buy it from stores. There are different brands of chocolate milk which are available in Malaysia and all of them are prepared with necessary precautions. But often my mum makes chocolate milk for me but the taste becomes different. She adds sugar with milk, adds some liquid chocolates with the blend of sugar and milk and then she adds some cocoa powder. She blends all the ingredients into a blender. But I think she makes a mistake here and thus the taste is a bit different from those I buy from the stores. Usually, chocolate milk preparation needs sugar powder but my mum uses the sugar without making it powder. So, often I have to grind the sugar with my teeth when I drink the homemade chocolate milk.

Drinks are popular among the Malaysian but since this is a Muslim country, hard drinks are banned here, though one can manage those with investing some efforts. But a majority of the people here do not drink the hard drinks rather they prefer the soft drinks. In fact, people of all ages take soft drinks which are mentioned above but very few of them take chocolate milk. They believe that chocolate milk is only for children as it tastes chocolate. But they have a completely wrong idea. In fact, chocolate milk is filled with protein and minerals necessary for the human body. Milk is enriched with all the necessary elements that form the human body while chocolate also has some food value than the chemicals used to prepare the soft drinks. Besides, the chocolate milk is tastier than the other drinks I have tasted so far. Unfortunately, most of the people are unable to understand the benefits of chocolate drinks and thus the number of people drinking chocolate milk is fewer.

I prefer chocolate milk for numerous reasons. The first and most important thing is that chocolate milk is a kind of fluid that helps to serve protein in the body which is helpful for muscle repair. When someone works for long, a glass of chocolate milk is able to replenish the damages caused by the physical labour. It restores energy on a human body and preparation process is also less complex than the other drinks, especially soft drinks. Chocolate milk is available everywhere and the taste of the drink is delicious. Milk is considered a recovery option for people of every age but there are some people who do not prefer to have milk and chocolate milk is a potential drink for them. They will drink it for its exceptional taste and thus their deficiencies will be refilled shortly. In fact, chocolate milk is highly important for preserving a good health. Thereby, chocolate milk is my favourite drink
