Looking back on that day, we all agreed it was my greatest victory.

The story is about a young man, he is small, but he has a bright mind and such ambitions that people couldn't fathom. We will call him K. However, due to the unfortunate circumstances, slowly losing his own characteristic is inevitable. Ever since the start of the tragedy, which is his mother leaving this world, life hasn't been kind to him. His dad, devastated after the whole fiasco, become the kind of parent that he shouldn't be, which is ruling over his kids with fear, force them to study as if study is their hobby. Our boy, the main character, was not happy. However, he is an introvert, and he is also just a kid who didn't develop his mind to be strong, and the only thing he know at that time is just...endure it. But at time goes on, this whole thing, slowly but surely, it will corrupt him.

His time at school was... nothing special. At least,in primary and middle school, he made some friends, a few of them will prove themselves to him that they are the best companions he could have in his life.In fact, they are one of the reasons that kept him sane. Although his life right now felt like a mess, his memories of school was not that bad.

However, at home, it was bad. Really bad, actually. Everyday, after K got home, he would be subject to his father constantly telling him to study. Sounds like a normal thing, right? Well, thing is, his father say it with a tone as if he would disown K if he disobey. So in fear, K study, but as much as he want to, he can't get any words into his head, he felt as if studying and learning is a nightmare. And so, his grades drop on almost every subject, except one that is English, the only thing K felt like he is good at. But his father doesn't acknowledge his English skill. He act as if K have to meet those result with every subject, not only English, so he disregards it, not praising K or say anything to him for his effort. Not only that, he also say hurtful words and hit K for his bad result with other subjects, sometimes even in the middle of the night so K wouldn't expect it. This slowly eats away K's characteristic. So, as anyone would do, he retaliates. He steal his father's money to get a phone for himself. It was a whole new experience. He get to feel and see things he haven't seen before. Of course, good things like this don't last for long. This is not his house, not his territory, it's just a matter of time before he lose this phone. One day, his father barge into his room and take the phone away. Or I should say, smashed it away. K was in dazed while his father, without a word, hit him. K was left hurt and lost. But that of course, wasn't enough to put out the new fire inside K's mind. However, it was also not a good thing. The only thing that is coming for both K and his father is just the vicious cycle of K stealing money to get a phone and his dad who can't lower his ego to accept the fact his kid can't live without the entertainment a phone provided. At some point, K even consider his phone he got is more important than anyone except his friends. Luckily, K and his father still have a bit of common sense left in them, so in the end, they compromised. Eventually, they both give up on what they're doing to themselves. K kept a small phone to himself, his dad finally give up trying to force K the way he wants to, and K forgived him. Even with all of the suffering he has gone through, he knows people can change. K was ready all the time to just leave the house and go somewhere to sleep forever, he was almost at the point of accepting those thoughts, he was ready to just...give up, so this change was really sudden to him. He felt relieved, and maybe, happy? He finally feel like he can study again, his mind is clear. And despite only studying for a few days before the high school entrance test, he managed to finish with a higher than average score.

High school was a bit rough at the start, having no friends, don't know a single person. But on the second year of high school, things changed. K was instruct to sit next to the brightest person he has ever met. We will call him D. D, different from K, is from a poor family. Yet, he is smart and appear to others as a really optimistic person. D is good at every subject except English, so like K, he was happy too. Together, they help eachother grow. K learned a lot of D, he slowly wash away that pathetic past self of his, and become a better, happier person. Maybe, life is not all that bad, and now, only a bright future awaits him, as he promised to himself to help people that have a sad past just like him...

At the end of the day, K, or me myself, is the winner. I have finally overcome my feelings to become a greater person. People might believe this story, or just say it was all made up, but it doesn't matter. "Your greatest enemy is yourself", and I have finally beat it. It might rise again someday, and although the winner then is unknown, the one who emerged from this victory here is me myself, and I'm proud of myself. I won't let those feelings affect me ever again.
