It was dangerous, but I knew I had to do it.

It happened 5 years ago, during summer vacation, my family and I organized a trip to Izu Island, Japan. I met a boy my age at the beach, and we became best friends. Me and him played together all day without getting bored during the whole vacation. He was very familiar with the sea, and he knew almost every type of fish. He looks so cute, when I look at the shiny teeth on his tanned face. But fate let those dream-like days pass quickly for us like the wind. On the last days of summer vacation, I cried and told him that I didn't want to go home and just wanted to stay here. “I will protect you” – that's what he said then. At that time, I selfishly told my family that it was fine to stay in Izu for a few more days and then go home. When I saw him on the road near the beach, I tried to run up to him and tell him. But when I caught up, the drowsy driver suddenly rushed up to where we were standing. At that time, I was very surprised. I wondered what to do: save him, or run away? But my heart told me to save my friend. It was dangerous, but I knew I had to do it. I jumped out, hugged him tightly, covered him with my body. A rumble resounded, fortunately, he and I escaped the scythe of death. I hugged him. After that, I cried, I thanked God for blessing us. To this day, he and I still keep in touch. I still remember the words “I will protect you” that he told me. But thanks to him, I realized how strong and brave I am. Thank you very much!
