Today, I would like to tell you about my feelings about April 30. A day with a proud history April 30 every year is a major holiday for the people of the whole country. For veterans, April 30 is victory day, a day to remember and pay tribute to comrades who sacrificed for a peaceful country. 44 years have passed (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2019), the youngest soldiers participating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975 are now over 60 years old. Older people often remind themselves of the past, especially their "heroic" times when they were still wearing military uniforms.

At 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, tanks of the liberation army rammed down the gate of the puppet presidential palace (now the Reunification Palace) - Documentary photo.
The 30-4 victory is one of the most brilliant milestones in the history of building and defending the country of our nation. It is a shining symbol of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism, the pinnacle of Vietnamese human courage and intelligence. For every Vietnamese person, April 30, 1975 is an important historical day. That was the day the war ended, the country was cleared of invaders, and peace returned throughout Vietnam. That is the day of reunion, the mountains and rivers become one, North and South are one strip. The victory on April 30, 1975 was the greatest achievement in the cause of national liberation led by our Party and President Ho Chi Minh; is a heroic and brilliant page of history on the nation's path of building and defending the country for thousands of years. We have defeated the greatest and most ferocious enemy of progressive humanity; gloriously ending the 30-year fight for independence, freedom, and unification for the Fatherland; ending the rule of more than a century of old and new colonialism in the country. This is also a victory that contributes to promoting the struggle of the world's people for the goals of national independence, peace, democracy and social progress.
44 years ago, I was also one of the soldiers in a great army marching to liberate the South. Although my unit did not make it to Saigon, the reverberations of victory made the young soldiers at that time remember and forever remember the historical moment: 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975. As time passes, along with documentary films, photography works, newspapers... recording every true moment of the victory day, poems, especially the compositions of soldiers, have In his first moments in Saigon, he told everyone the feeling of joy as if he were walking under the bright floral flags of April 30 of that year. Poet Bang Viet was one of the war correspondents who closely followed the progress of the historic Spring Offensive. He wrote simple yet profound verses on the night of April 30 that year: "Walking in the middle of the street, crying and laughing like a child/The moment that only comes in one's life/It's really here, still thinking about it like a dream." It is impossible to express the joy of the speedy march towards the liberation of Saigon. The poem "Coming to Saigon" by Nguyen Duc Mau with the lines: "This April I am the flag bearer/I am the driver tank, I am the gunner/I am the separation, I am the reunion/The desire to multiply when coming to Saigon...".
On the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the Liberation of the South on April 30, 2017, veteran Le Doan Hop (former Minister of Culture and Information) said: "From noon April 30, 1975 to the first days of the month In May 1975, the whole of Saigon was filled with a stream of people, forests of flags, a sea of flowers and the endless cheers of joy from our people and soldiers. We were invited by people to get on the bus, drink coffee, and have breakfast for free. Waking up at night but not feeling sleepy during the day, eating less but still having a full stomach. Those were the most sublime and beautiful days of a soldier that no one can fully describe in words." And on the night of April 30, 1975, he wrote the poem: "Saigon - the night of victory" with the lines: "In Saigon, we became military governors/The pride of Dien Bien, overflowing to the big street/Ba Twenty years, compressed into one day/People and flags, billowing in the air/I'm alive, today is beautiful." Poet To Huu on May 1, 1975 wrote the song "Toan victory for us" with verses expressing national pride and unforgettable emotions: "Oh, this afternoon, the beautiful sunshine /Uncle Ho! All victory is with us/We come, blue with steel light/The city named after you, splendid with flags and flowers...".
Only after going through the years of war and witnessing the division of the two countries can we see the great significance of the 30-4 victory, and can we fully appreciate the value of the years of peace and unity. integrity of the Fatherland. Thinking about the day of victory, we cannot forget the contributions of the heroic martyrs who fell during the nation's long march, nor can we forget the families who have contributed to the country. Therefore, more than anyone else, Vietnamese people value today's days more and more, and appreciate the achievements gained after the years of the country's reform process. The further the war recedes, the more we must preserve and maximize the spiritual values that the victory day of April 30 brought, so that the nation will forever be peaceful and prosperous. The 30-4 victory will forever be an eternal source of spiritual motivation, making an important contribution to creating strength for our country to firmly step on the path of integration and development.

I feel proud of April 30 - Southern Liberation Day!
