Surviving without other people would be easier than some think. Assuming you’re stranded on the island, maybe washed ashore in a small raft, you’d be busy for the first week or so setting up a shelter, collecting firewood, and finding drinking water. You’d be too tired and too busy to miss people.

Food would be the big problem. We’re letting Gilligan’s Island sell us an ideal life on a deserted island. They were all well fed and happy. In real life, there may not be much to eat growing there.

Do you have fishing gear? Even a length of line and a hook? A little bait? All that can be made from resources on the island, but you have to know how. Can you carve a spear and go spear fishing? That’s an art that I have trouble with. I spear one fish for every 10 or so attempts.

Overall, I think you’d be too busy to miss people. Maybe at night, sitting by a fire, you’d get lonely, but as tired as you’d be, you’d drift off to sleep soon. Then wake up the next day, having to go find food, water, and more firewood.
