Vì dùng từ "were" gợi sự trang trọng và thường sử dụng nhiều hơn từ "was" trong mệnh đề If

Câu hỏi không rõ nên hiểu sao trả lời vậy.

Khi học một môn ngoại ngữ nào đó. Thường là phải học nói phát âm trước, sau đó mới tìm hiểu tại sao. Có những câu bạn chỉ nói ...nhưng không thể phân tích văn phạm . Mình ví dụ,  khi tình cờ bạn cần sự giúp đỡ và bạn thường cảm ơn.  Bạn sẽ nghe người Mỹ sẽ nói câu: you are welcome! Có nghĩa là : ông ta rất hân hạnh và vui khi bạn đã làm phiền ông ta.

Nếu bạn nói dùng sai on, in , at, into, for, withow, the, this, that, there, those  ... người đọc hay nghe , nghe nó kỳ kỳ ...nhưng với người bản xứ họ sẽ lập lại theo cách của họ. Đó là cách học preposition.
