-Nói về một hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ, kéo dài đến hiện tại, có thể xảy ra trong tương lai.
(She has studied for 5 hours).
-Nói về hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ nhưng không nêu cụ thể với thời gian diễn ra.
(I have been to London several times).

*Cấu trúc:
(+): S + has/have + been + V_ing.
(-): S + has/have not been + V_ing.
(?): Has/Have + S + been + V_ing?

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết: all day, all week, since, for, for a long time, almost every day this week, recently, lately, in the past week, in recent years, up until now, so far...

*Cách dùng:
-Dùng để nói về hành động xảy ra  trong quá khứ diễn ra liên tục, tiếp tục kéo dài đến hiện tại.
(I have been working for 3 hours).
-Dùng để diễn tả hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ nhưng kết quả của nó vẫn còn ở hiện tại.
(I am very tired now because I have been working hard for 10 hours).

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết: after, before, as soon as, by the time, when.

*Cách dùng: Diễn tả một hành động  đã xảy ra, hoàn thành trước một hành động khác trong quá khứ.
(I had gone to school before Nhung came).

*Cấu trúc:
(+): S + had been + V_ing.
(-): S + had not been + V_ing.
(?): Had + S + been + V_ing?

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết: until then, by the time, prior to that time.

*Cách dùng: 
-Nói về một hành động xảy ra kéo dài liên tục trước một hành động khác trong quá khứ.
(I had been typing for 3 hours before I finished my work).
-Nói về một hành động xảy ra kéo dài liên tục trước một thời điểm được xác định trong quá khứ.
(Phong had been playing game for 5 hours before 12pm last night).

TƯƠNG LAI

*Cấu trúc:
(+): S + will have + PP.
(-): S + will not have + PP.
(?): Will + S + have + PP?

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết: by the time, prior to that time.

*Cách dùng: 
-Dùng để nói về một hành động hoàn thành trước một thời điểm xác định trong tương lai.
(I will have finished my job before 7 o’clock this evening.)
-Dùng để nói về một hành động hoàn thành trước một hành động khác trong tương lai.
(I will have done the exercise before the teacher come tomorrow).

*Cấu trúc:
(+): S + will have been + V_ing.
(-): S + will not have been + V_ing.
(?): Will + S + have been + V_ing?

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết: by the time, prior to the time.

*Cách dùng: 
-Diễn tả một hành động bắt đầu từ quá khứ và kéo dài liên tục đến một thời điểm nào đó trong tương lai.
(I will have been working for this company for 6 years by this time next year).

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết: now, right now, at the moment, at present, for the time being, presently, ath the present time.

*Cách dùng:
-Diễn tả hành động/ sự việc đang diễn ra tại thời điểm nói.
(I am playing the piano at the moment).
-Diễn tả 1 hành động sắp xảy ra ở tương lai gần (là một sự sắp xếp hoặc 1 kế hoạch đã định sẵn).
(He is coming tonight).
- Diễn tả 1 lời phàn nàn đi với always.
(He is always behaving impolitely).

*NOTE: không dùng thì này với các động từ chỉ nhận thức, tri giác: see, hear, understand, know, like, want, glance, feel, think, smell, love, hate, realize, seem, remember, forget...

*Cách dùng:

- Diễn tả hành động đã xảy ra và kéo dài một thời gian ở quá khứ.
(She was sleeping the whole afternoon).
-Diễn tả hành động đang xảy ra ở quá khứ thì có hành động khác xen vào.

TƯƠNG LAI

*Cấu trúc:
- Với động từ thường:

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết:  tomorrow, next week, next month, next year.

*Cách dùng: 
-Diễn tả hành động sẽ xảy ra ở tương lai.
(I will go to NY next year).
-Diễn tả ý kiến, đưa ra một lời hứa hoặc một quyết định tức thì.
(I will open the door for you).
-Dùng để dự đoán 1 điều gì đó chưa có căn cứ.
(I guess the red team will win).

*Cấu trúc:
(+): S + will/shall + be + V-ing
(-): S + will/shall + not + be + V-ing
(?): Will/shall + S + be + V-ing?

*Dấu hiệu nhận biết: at this time/ at this moment + [future time], at + [time] + [future time].

*Cách dùng:
-Diễn tả hành động hay sự việc sẽ đang diễn ra ở một thời điểm xác định trong tương lai.
(I will be doing exam at 10p.m tomorrow).
-Diễn tả hành động sẽ diễn ra và kéo dài liên tục suốt một khoảng thời gian ở tương lai.
(She will be staying here the whole day tomorrow).
